Since reopening our doors in July, we have been overwhelmed by the support and appreciation our guests have shown us by joining us for dinner during the three nights we're currently open... Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 5:50pm and 8pm each night. We're doing everything we can to ensure indoor dining is as safe as possible for our guests AND our team. Masks are worn at all times by our staff, while we kindly request guests to wear masks whenever they are not actively eating or drinking. All cleaning and sanitation measures we've implemented are simply a continuation of what we've always done, with more frequency of high-touch surfaces before, during, and after service. But it hasn't been easy... there is an air of anxiety and stress with this reopening unlike anything we've ever experienced, even when we first opened Tasting Counter 5 years ago. Many guests are having their first restaurant experience in over 6 months and celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions with us, and we're so glad we can be here for them. It's these small moments of normalcy that keeps us going as we experience for nuggets of happiness during service... cooking and presenting food and beverages that make our guests smile and thank us for allowing them to momentarily forget about what's happening in the rest of the world. Trust us... we are truly getting as much out of cooking for our guests again, as our guests are getting from dining with us again! We will continue to ramp up services, soon expanding our dining options to include our 3-course lunches on Saturday and Sunday. As we consider these operational changes, we remain vigilant to make sure we are making the safe and appropriate decisions for everyone.

Summer in New England means fruits and vegetables galore so we have been busy preserving and fermenting in our Somerville kitchen! Some new additions to our TC Market family include Very Berry Preserve and Fresh & Fermented Strawberry Preserve. In the heat of the summer, everything ripens at once and we end up with a glut of fruit and berries! Our Very Berry Preserve combines rhubarb, blueberry, redcurrant, blackcurrant, strawberry, cherry, red gooseberry, and green gooseberry for a perfect sweet-tart addition to a bowl of homemade granola and yogurt.Fresh & Fermented Strawberry Preserve is made using a two-step process... green strawberries are first fermented in the style of umeboshi with red shiso from our friends at the Somerville Community Growing Center; a year later, fresh local red strawberries are combined with the fermented green strawberries to complete our "fresh and fermented preserve."We've also added Fermented Rice Chili Paste to our TC Market lineup! Inspired by traditional Korean chili paste, this versatile kitchen essential is made with 100% local peppers and mellowed out with the savory creaminess of fermented koji rice. Our TC Market line is available for purchase via our website, in-person at Tasting Counter, or at any of the following farmers markets:• Copley Square Farmers Market – alternating FRIDAYS (Aug 14 / Aug 28 / Sept 11 / Sept 25 / Oct 9 / Oct 23 / Nov 6 / Nov 20)• Union Square Farmers Market – alternating SATURDAYS (Aug 22 / Sept 5 / Sept 19 / Oct 3 / Oct 17 / Oct 31 / Nov 14)• SoWa Open Market – EVERY SUNDAY
